Ethics Policy

How we act with honesty, integrity and fairness in our work for clients, colleagues and the communities we operate in.

1. Our Commitment

Metra Surveying is accredited to ISO 9001 (Quality Management) and ISO 14001 (Environmental Management), holds CHAS and ConstructionLine Gold status, and is RISQS approved. These accreditations are independently audited and depend on us being able to demonstrate ethical, consistent practice across the business — not just on paper, but in how we work day to day.

This policy applies to all employees, directors and sub-contractors working on behalf of Metra Surveying, on every project we undertake.

2. Honesty, Accuracy and Impartiality

Our clients rely on our survey data to make decisions worth millions of pounds, so accuracy and impartiality are not negotiable. We:

  • Report survey results exactly as measured, without adjustment to suit a client's preferred outcome.

  • Are clear and upfront about the limitations, accuracy tolerances and assumptions behind any data we deliver.

  • Never knowingly submit misleading, incomplete or falsified data, certificates or records.

3. Bribery, Gifts and Conflicts of Interest

We comply fully with the Bribery Act 2010. No employee or sub-contractor may offer, give, request or accept a bribe, kickback or improper payment of any kind in connection with our work. Modest hospitality (e.g. a working lunch) is acceptable where it is proportionate, transparent and would not reasonably be seen to influence a decision. Anything beyond that — including cash, vouchers, or gifts of meaningful value — must be declined and reported to a line manager.

Any personal, financial or family connection that could reasonably be seen to affect someone's judgement on a project must be declared to the Managing Director before work begins.

4. Confidentiality and Data Protection

We treat client, project and site information as confidential, and only share it with those who need it to deliver the work. Personal data is handled in line with UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, and is never used or disclosed beyond what a project requires.

5. Health, Safety and Environmental Responsibility

Consistent with our ISO 14001 accreditation, we plan and carry out our work to minimise environmental impact, and we hold health and safety on site as a genuine priority rather than a compliance exercise. Every member of staff and sub-contractor is expected to work to the standards set out in our site Health & Safety procedures at all times.

6. Fair Treatment of People

We treat colleagues, clients, sub-contractors and members of the public with respect and fairness. Bullying, harassment and discrimination of any kind have no place at Metra Surveying, and decisions about recruitment, pay and progression are made on merit.

7. Raising a Concern

Anyone — staff, sub-contractor or client — who believes this policy has been breached should raise it with their line manager or directly with the Managing Director. Concerns raised in good faith will be taken seriously, treated confidentially where possible, and will never result in reprisal against the person who raised them.

9. Policy Review

Reviewed annually, or following material changes to the Bribery Act 2010, UK GDPR, or the requirements of our ISO, CHAS, ConstructionLine or RISQS accreditations.
